Messenger apps have become our primary way of communication over the years. Leaving our means of communication in the hands of big tech proves problematic in many ways, such as privacy (message and metadata), compatibility, and platform exclusivity. Messengers like Signal and Telegram are already providing a great alternative, but they still lack the ability to swap frontends or servers. This is where Matrix comes in.

Matrix is an open-source communication framework that lets you choose the server to host your data and the frontend / messenger app to communicate with. All of them are connected and compatible with each other. It combines the comfort of a messenger service with the freedom of e-mail. Find out more about Matrix at https://matrix.org/.

Tjena!Chat is a messaging service in the Matrix network that aims to make usage as easy as possible, enabling more users to switch to a Matrix-based messenger instead of proprietary messaging apps.

We continue working on more ways to make the switch to Tjena!Chat or Matrix in general as easy and uncompromising as possible.
